I am a big promoter of mending things, all sorts of things . Once I start, as in all things it is mostly fine but it’s not my favourite thing to do and I absolutely procrastinate doing it unless there is no other option to fix a thing and throw it immediately back into service.
So if I, who wholeheartedly believes in mending and has the skills to mend and is still putting it off, How do we convince other people to even try it ?
Is it simply the volume of mending I have to contend with ? When something is fixed and back in service it is so satisfying but I cannot seem to hang on to that feeling .
So as a way of holding myself accountable I am going to document my pile here and update when I mend them .
A few moth holes I need to find the right colour and match the stitch, the searching of bins is a deterrent .
Ribbing that has come out from a sweater that I have worn a lot
Favourite white linen dress that is a bit threadbare
Very old and well worn dress shirt that has come apart at the seams. I have located a few scraps of this fabric so that is something.
much beloved jeans that I wore everyday that are now work jeans but they need some serious patching and mending.
One toe has a big hole the other is about to go, I am tempted to take out the whole toe and re knit it which is why it hasn’t happened yet .
There are of course other things that need imminent repair but these have been sitting around the longest. I also have a few things for others that are not pictured here, mostly back pockets on jeans, a knee or two.
I’ll keep you posted.

My mending pile is an absolute overwhelming mess. Ha! Thanks for the link to Mend in Public Day, love that idea!
I just noticed my most beautiful mend on the backside of my carhartts needs a second mend. I don’t know why it makes me so disheartened!! And then there’s the pants who need to be taken in or hemmed. If I just wait long enough they’ll fit.
