So there are probably a couple of ways to answer that question. I absolutely do wear many hats and a constantly moving brain keeps me doing a little bit here and a little bit there which has its advantages but also feels like your going nowhere. I definitely benefit from documenting my work as looking back I can see there is momentum even when it doesn’t feel like it . Sometimes it’s simply that I don’t have bandwidth either because I have made up a story about how difficult that task is or because I really don’t have space for the focus that is required. Sometimes it’s not the fun parts but the finishing parts so it drags. What really makes me work is a solid external deadline, hard to come by when mostly you work for yourself.
These for example sat around pieced forever then they sat around after I did the minimal stitching then they sat round some more before I completed their task and put backs on and made them into cushion covers. For me though it means I have a nagging feeling which eventually culminates into finishing or destroying.
Of course sometimes things need to go in a time out , either because you are so frustrated or because you are not sure what to do next and you need time to think about it.
These pieces are finally moving again because I just decided I was over thinking it and should go with my first instinct. Now if only the cats would stay off the ironing board we might move a little faster but I digress.
This jacket has been a long time in my head, Sitting cut out for a bit after that. (pattern is a collarless Rue Quilt Coat ) I rarely use non biodegradable fabric, the occasional swimsuit but more often than not it’s linen or cotton . So after doing a lot of research to find oko-tex certified recycled quilted nylon I then put it off because I knew it was going to be slippery and difficult to work with and in this case I was absolutely right and thats when I gave myself a hard deadline to get all projects that had been started, finished. Of course it still doesn’t have the snaps installed yet but thats a problem for another day when I have gotten over the sewing part. It is far from perfect but sometimes done is better than perfect .. or thats what I am telling myself today. I also know from experience that micro things you zoom in on when you are making something you rarely notice when it’s actually being worn.
Taking action on the things I can actually control is very helpful when the world at large seems so out of control. Now having mostly cleared the project decks I have to go and clear the actual decks…wish me luck.

Gorgeous jacket!! Well done! Did it come quilted, or did you have to do the wavy stitching too??
It absolutely came quilted . If I had had to quilt this slippery fabric it would look like a topical map .. which might be cool but not what I was going for 🫣😂
